How Does Phototherapy Treatment for Psoriasis Work?

At Miller Family Dermatology, we are proud to be one of the only dermatology clinics to offer this advanced psoriasis treatment in Seattle.  Phototherapy uses narrowband ultraviolet B light.  This treatment is administered with our Daavlin phototherapy booth or Pharos excimer laser, depending on the location of the psoriasis.

Treatments are typically performed 2-3 times a week for about 30 sessions, after which we move you to easy once-weekly maintenance.  We find that the majority of our patients are highly responsive to this treatment.

Of course, there are always some cases that are more severe and stubborn.  Oral and injectable medications are used to target the root cause of your inflammation and may be recommended when topical medications and light therapy aren’t enough.
