Overview
Our Care Philosophy:
When you become a Miller Dermatology + Aesthetics patient, your advantages include:
- A Team Based approach where you always have access to a Board-Certified Dermatologist
- Timely and accessible care
- Patient-centered care
- Approachability and respect
High Tech with a Soft Touch
Dr. Miller is a gadget junkie and is very interested in technology that can make the office more efficient and improve the patient experience. But, while we embrace all the latest technology and innovation, we are uncompromising about the patient-doctor relationship and are steadfast about maintaining this connection. We ensure that your time with your physician is maximized by removing the computer from the exam room so that your doctor is able to focus all their time and attention on your skin condition and developing a treatment plan.
Patient-Centered Care
We’ve got all the skills and experience of a “big city” doctor without the travel, traffic, and parking headaches of a “big city” office. We’re in the neighborhood and we strive to maintain the approachability of a neighborhood clinic. This means providing timely and accessible care.
We also know how we want our family to be treated by doctors, and that’s why we extend the same personable, small-town approach to you. Compassion, kindness, and integrity are the cornerstones of our practice. We listen intently, and take the time to understand your individual needs to create a plan tailored to your unique circumstances.
High-Value Care: What it Means for Miller Dermatology + Aesthetics Patients
You have a lot of choices in the healthcare marketplace. We believe the best choice is the one that gives you best possible return on your invested health care dollar. At Miller Dermatology + Aesthetics, this means working to provide our patients with the best possible value in the services we provide by focusing on:
- Doing all that we can to efficiently and responsibly treat your conditions
- Suggesting a simpler and less-expensive procedure if it is the right one to treat your condition
- Having frank discussions of the risks and benefits of treatments
Our goal is to provide a resolution to our patients’ problems that returns them to healthy living without unnecessary spending of either health care dollars or valuable time. Patients should leave feeling healthier, happier, and satisfied with the true value of the care they received.
Why See a Board-Certified Dermatologist?
There are many physicians and non-physicians who care for the skin, but none of them possess the depth and breadth of knowledge of a board-certified dermatologist. Dermatologists are the only physicians specifically trained in the medical, surgical and cosmetic care of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes. This is accomplished through 4 years of post-graduate medical education after medical school. A board-certified dermatologist has also completed and passed the American Board of Dermatology’s rigorous certifying examination and participates in ongoing continuing medical education.
By the numbers, the training of a board-certified dermatologist involves:
- Seeing over 10,000 patients with skin disease over 3 years of residency
- Performing between 1,000 and 2,000 surgical procedures on the skin, varying in complexity from skin biopsies to facial reconstruction after skin cancer surgery
- Completing 6 months of skin pathology training, which includes review of over 5,000 pathologic specimens
- To become board-certified, a dermatologist must pass a rigorous certifying examination that tests medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, surgical dermatology and pathology. Board-certified dermatologists must then enroll in a life-long maintenance of certification program that requires regular continuing medical education, peer-review, patient-review, re-examination and completion of modules on patient safety and clinical care.
Once in practice, most dermatologists will see 5,000 – 10,000 patients per year. We encounter diseases ranging from the common (acne, warts, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis) to the very rare (autoimmune bullous diseases, genetic skin diseases, and rare tumors).
The result of this training, certification and continuing education is a physician without equal when it comes to diagnosis and management of skin disease. When you chose a board-certified dermatologist, you are choosing the best possible care for your skin.
